Abstract
201 children diagnosed before the age of fifteen were compared with 181 controls. There is an increased risk of cancer in children breastfed less than 6 months or not breastfed at all. The increased risk is largely due to the increased incidence of lymphoma.

These data differ from those of McKinney who found no association between infant feeding and childhood leukaemia or lymphoma. See McKinney P.A., et al, The inter-regional epidemiological childhood cancer; a case control study. Arch Dis child, 1987;62:279-87. See entry 0029.
