Abstract

This study is not in the framework of primal health research, but it has been inspired by studies establishing links between birth weight and blood pressure later in life. 209 healthy nulliparous pregnant women were studied. An inverse correlation was found between fetal growth and maternal blood pressure. The authors conclude that maternal blood pressure may be an important confounding factor in the reported associations between fetal growth retardation and adult hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

Diskussion

It must be noted that only women expecting their first baby were involved in this study.
