This letter follows a review article of the pathogenesis of eczema underlining our lack of knowledge of the environmental factors that determine whether or not the atopic genotype is expressed as an atopic phenotype. The data are the same as those reported in entry number 0124. The emphasis is on the fact that whooping cough vaccination does not represent a significant risk factor for eczema, whereas it appears as a risk factor for asthma in childhood.
