Abstract

A significant association was found between invasive haemophilus influenza infection and short duration (<13 weeks) of breast-feeding. For Hib onset of 12 months or older the association with short duration of breast-feeding was stronger. The risk decreased with each additional week of breastfeeding. The association persisted for months and years beyond the period of breastfeeding.

Diskussion

Such data might influence the decision of certain parents who wonder if their child should receive Hib vaccination.
