Abstract

Newborn rats were exposed to hypoxia (10% O2) from day one to day 6. The function of the pulmonary vasculature was examined at day 45, i.e. after the animal reached sexual maturity. The authors conclude that adult rats exposed to hypoxia in the neonatal period have elevated pulmonary resistance and increased vascular reactivity to hypoxia.

The 'wait-for-puberty' rule seems to be well known in experimental primal health research.
