Abstract

A total of 6767 women born in 1974 delivered 7123 infants in the state of Pennsylvania between January 1st, 1995 and December 31st, 1996. The relative risk for diabetes in pregnancy among the group that had been small at birth was 3.6 compared with the larger group. In other words a woman's risk of diabetes during pregnancy is increased if she herself was small at birth.
