Abstract
The serum IgE concentration was measured in 146 men and 134 women born in Preston between 1935 and 1943, whose size at birth had been measured in details. Subjects with a high IgE concentration around age 50 (above 80 IU/ml) had had a larger head circumference at birth and a higher birth weight, but the same crown-heel length at birth. This indicate that in utero they had had disproportionate growth of the head in relation to the trunk and limbs.
