It is an international consensus statement on what is known about the causal relation between acute events during labor and cerebral palsy. The statement has been produced by an international task force representing a wide range range of sciences, clinical specialties and professional associations. We are at a time when a realistic estimate may be that only 10% of cases of cerebral palsy stem from advert events during childbirth.
